Using one card for your birthday to guide your year ahead is also an acceptable form of divination. You may use a card a day for guidance and clarity as well.

Shuffle as usual. Spread the cards out on a table in a straight line. Go over the cards with your left hand until you feel a pull down towards one of them. Sometimes it is not a pull, but a cold or warm spot that FEELS different than the rest. Pull out that card (any way you wish) and place it above the line. Is it upright? Reversed? Read it that way and that will be the issue you must deal with for your birthday year.
