Simple Feng Shui Cures©
by Vikki Anderson
Here is a list of simple cures in no particular order to help you Feng Shui your space.
ART WORK
BAGUA
The Bagua, Bagwa or Pa Kua consists of eight scared emblems or symbols. Each
symbols represents a different area of one’s life. It is arranged in an
octagonal pattern and represents the smooth flow of energy or chi. The Bagua
usually contains a mirror at its center and is placed above the front door of a
home, office, room or area you wish to protect. It faces outward to reflect the
bad energy away from your space, family or office. A concave mirror reverses
“shar chi” negative energy. The convex mirror “expands” positive energy. The
flat or regular bagua mirror is for protection and to attract good energy into
the space.
BASEMENT
Is it
organized and efficient? Do you feel comfortable in your home office; do
your clients feel at ease within your business space?
PARTNERSHIP AREA
The furthest right hand corner from the architectural front door is the
partnership area. You can put pinks and reds in that area, and most
importantly, things in “pairs.” You can put up photographs of couples (or if you
are in a relationship, put up happy pictures of the two of you), pairs of
statues, bamboo flutes or chimes. The significant thing would be to feel
secure, happy, and have items in that area of the house that reflect your
feelings about relationships. If you have statues or pictures of individuals,
you are telling the universe that you are comfortable being alone.
The wealth
area is the furthest left hand corner from the architectural front door of
your house or apartment. Put a money vase in that corner with the amount of
money you wish to accumulate. I put one consultation’s price in the vase.
You may enhance this energy by putting a red napkin under the clear glass
vase. This could be a glass vase filled with the denominations of money you
would like to accumulate. Or the other train of thought is that you can
choose a coin, such as a quarter. You must then put a quarter or how many
quarters you have at the end of each day into the vase. Do this for one
month. At the end of this time period, you will attract prosperity into
your life. I did it for about one week, but then didn’t go out and didn’t
have change and had to start again. So being a Gemini who tends to be a tad
impatient, I just put the denominations of money I wanted to accumulate and
so far it’s working just fine.
Do you have paintings or wall hangings in your home that you no longer want or like? If so, get rid of them and replace them with beautiful flowers, waterfalls, garden or woodland scenery or anything that makes you smile. If that means having a painting or photograph of scenery, fruit, flowers, or animals rather than people, by all means do whatever you feel good about.
ADDRESS (Street)
Can visitors see your address clearly? Is your house clearly and are the numbers large enough? Do you have your address in more than one location? Most agree that three areas of the house or yard will allow people to find your home more efficiently. Is your address lighted at night or have you put your number on the mailbox so that people can easily find you in the dark? Large, bold letters and numbers are the best way to assure people will visit and find you, especially in an emergency.
Is your basement clean and neat? This is the foundation of your home and it should be organized, orderly and clutter free. You need to get rid of things that you feel you will need “someday.” If you need it in the future, go out and by it or know that the universe will make it available to you. If you look around, you will notice that you have many things that you can get rid of. (I have been cleaning out my house for nearly two years now from the attic down to the basement and I’ve discovered that I didn’t even know what some of the things I had stored were! Then I wondered why I bought three of them? It was an amazing experience to realize how much you bought, stored and allowed to accumulate in your home throughout the years!) Being that basements represent the past, be sure to put photographs of anyone no longer in your life (ex-partner, etc.), in that area if you are not ready to throw them away. They are in your past and don’t want them or their memory following you into the future.
BATHROOM(S)
Do you always leave the lid up on your toilet? Do your faucets leaks? If you do, you are constantly losing money or money is going down the drain. Are you flushing it away? Be sure to place a ba gua mirror on the outside of your bathroom door or if you have a sliding door, place it above the trim of the bathroom door. This reflects the negativity or drain of money away from the bathroom. As an aside, any leaky pipe or sink throughout the house should also be repaired so money stays within the home.
BEDS
The marriage/partnership bed should have a commanding position of the door; this is usually diagonally across the room from the entrance to the room. This is so that you can see everything that is going on in the room and who enters it.
BUSHES/SCRUBS/TREES
Do you have large overgrown trees, bushes, scrubs or plants in the front of your home that covers up the entrance way or covers your house so that it doesn’t look safe or well cared for? Do you have large overgrown bushes near the street that keeps visitors have to guess where the front walkway or driveway is? This indicates that you may not really want visitors dropping in to see you. Do you have ivy growing on your house or building? Ivy sucks the energy or chi out of a space, so perhaps a more manicured ivy would be best if you really like it. You may also want to consider putting up solar lighting along the side of the walkway or driveway so it will be easier to find the front entrance.
CAREER AREA
CEILING FANS
Ceiling fans traditionally are believed to cut up money, so hanging a small chime or 50 mm faceted crystal will redirect the energy being pulled up through the fan blades.
CLOTHES
Are you keeping clothes in the closet that don’t fit any longer hoping that you will lose that extra weight in the next year? If this is the case, get rid of the clothes (donate it, as in #2) and buy yourself a new wardrobe when you do lose the weight as a gift to yourself for your accomplishment. Remember, you can keep clothes just so many years before they are out of style or you don’t like them any longer. Our tastes change throughout the years.
CLUTTER
Be sure the house, yard, office or space you are working with is free of clutter. Be sure that you love everything in that space (if not, get rid of it or donate it to your favorite church, have a garage sale or give it to a friend or family member who might like the item). Your subconscious mind does record the mess or clutter and makes you dissatisfied with your environment even if you are unaware of it. You then feel discouraged and defeated by not having the time to clean up your space or to be as organized as you would like. Your energy is depleted because you are overwhelmed even before you start cleaning. Clean in nine-minute increments. When I said this at a lecture, several women started to laugh and wondered what could you clean in nine minutes. I told them first of all; they could clean for eighteen or twenty-seven minutes, etc. In nine minutes, you may be able to fold laundry, clean the kitchen counter, empty the dishwasher, put the dishes away, dust, make the bed (or two beds), straighten up the toys or doggy toys from the floor in one room. If you use smaller increments of time to clean, you will feel as if you accomplished something and won’t be overwhelmed with setting aside a whole weekend to do the cleaning. Inadvertently, you will be whisked away by family or friends to go out to dinner or the movies, etc., and your good intent would wind up just being that – an intent to attack the mess! Start out by setting aside eighteen minutes (or whichever amount of time you choose) in the morning before work and perhaps the same after work or before bed. At least you will feel as if you’ve accomplished some small task.
DESKS
Have your home and office desk facing the door so that you see everything that goes on in the room and everyone that enters. It is considered bad Feng Shui to have your back to the door in any room as anyone could sneak up on you or perhaps they won’t want to bother you because they can’t see what you are doing. If this is the case, put a good-sized mirror on the opposite wall of the door where you can see people entering your office. You want to welcome people into your office and be aware of your surroundings.
EMFs (Electromagnetic Fields)
One of the interesting things I’ve learned in my own home is that EMFs are negative and can affect you in more ways than you’ll ever know. The most significant issue is that EMFs affect your health (studies are correlating EMFs with cancer) and your mood. I purchased a cell sensor and found that I had a very strong EMF current running the full length of the front of my home. I had been in my home for over twenty-six years and wondered why I never used my living room, meditation room and walk in closet. The living room was always nice, but everyone seemed to gravitate towards my fairy room (TV room) when visiting. Consequently, we never sat and chatted in the living room – it was never used. The meditation room where I did some of my tarot and astrology readings and a few of my hypnotherapy sessions just didn’t feel right. I gravitated back to the fairy room for these sessions. Everyone always commented on how peaceful and loving that room felt. (Of course, I had it painted pink - the partnership area color - and I have many fairies in all colors, especially pinks and reds and also have many items in pairs). My walk in closet wound up being a storage area in which I never was able to get into and I just kept throwing stuff in there. When I recently cleaned it out, I was amazed to find much of my winter clothing that I thought was lost. I found sweaters and tops with store tags on them and now I have a new wardrobe for this year! Also, the space feels lighter and happier. I can see my clothes and although it’s not totally organized, I have finished half of it and already I feel the difference.
FRONT ENTRANCE
Does the front walkway need repair? Can visitors easily find the front door? If not, why not put up a wind chime outside of the door or hang it from the roof gutter to draw attention to the front entrance. Is the color of the door pleasing? Do you need to repaint the door? Are there so many toys and general items in the way of the front entrance that make it difficult for visitors to maneuver around the “stuff” safely?
Do you use your architectural front entrance to get into your space? Most people come into the home from the garage and bypass the front entrance. You need to use the front entrance to bring in positive energy, even if you only open the door once a day to get the mail or get a breath of fresh air.
Do you have a straight pathway to your front door encouraging poison arrows (a strong rush of negative energy) front the outdoors into your home every time you open the front door.
Whichever room you enter after coming into the house is where your attention is centered. For instance, if you come into the kitchen, your first thought is about food AND if you are on a diet, this is not the best room for you to enter first.
GARAGE
Make the garage a nice experience. Usually we have lawn mowers, leaf bags, chemicals, garden tools, and many odds and ends. This is also usually where leftover junk winds up. Can you place a lovely picture or wall hanging on the wall so when you drive in, you feel relaxed and not overwhelmed with knowing that you have to clean up this mess one day when you have time. I personally put a 50mm faceted round crystal on a 9” red cord hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the garage to keep energy from escaping every time the garage door is opened.
ROUND FACETED CRYSTALS
You can hang a faceted leaded crystal on a red string or ribbon in 9” increments from your ceiling fan, in a long hallway, at your front entranceway, or anywhere you feel the energy (chi) needs to be redirected or scattered. Chi should not be able to flow in a straight line, shar chi or poison arrow direction. Crystals can be place at your front or back entrance, on the bottom or top of a staircase, in a hall where you have more than three doors opening into the same hall (battling doors syndrome), or in any window that you would like to have peaceful energy.
WEALTH AREA
WHIRLIGIGS
Whirligigs are a colorful and fun cure to move stagnant energy around in your yard. These are also inexpensive cures to put on your front or back porch, the deck or anywhere you feel you need to attract more positive chi in to your space.
WIND CHIMES
Wind chimes are one of the easiest and most melodious of all of the cures. You can surround your house and yard with them, but don’t go overboard where neighbors will complain every time there is a gentle breeze.
