If your child’s chart has VENUS in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
With their natural charm and social graces, these
children have the ability to be talented diplomats. Their
deepest desire is to bring happiness to others, and to make the
world a more beautiful place in which to live. They approach
situations from a loving, open standpoint: the old saying, “You
can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” perfectly
describes the way in which these children will be most effective
in bringing about improvements to the world.
They are the peacemakers, seeking to create
harmony, balance, and fairness in all areas and situations.
These children desire the universal “brotherhood/sisterhood”
very strongly. Since they so much want everyone to get along,
they can teach us how to compromise and cooperate rather than
remaining stuck in conflict. They see not our differences, but
rather what we all have in common and how that can bond us.
Their ultimate goal is to see a world at peace, a world where
everyone is free to be himself and is accepted in a true “live
and let live” fashion.
Galactic Venus children intuitively understand
that differences between people should be celebrated with a
“variety is the spice of life” attitude, rather than being
feared and resisted. These individuals may wish to live in
foreign countries, or host foreign-exchange programs in their
native countries, because they recognize that the ability to
“hate” people from different backgrounds is easier at a
distance, but much more difficult once you actually interact
with and get to know people on a personal level.
Venus also rules several other things, such as
many of the arts. One way that Galactic Venus children may
uplift and inspire others is through works of art and music that
touch people’s souls and bring awareness of progressive Aquarian
ideals and concepts. (Some famous individuals with Venus in the
G.C. position include Joan Baez, Sinead O’Connor, Elvis Presley,
Art Garfunkel, Alan Alda, Tina Turner, and Joan Armatrading.
Sheryl Crow also has a Venus connection to the G.C., at 25
degrees of Aquarius.)
Marriage is another realm that falls under
Venus’s dominion, since Libra is ruled by Venus. These children
may be the ones to reform commonly accepted customs, policies,
and laws in the area of marriage and partnerships in order to
make them more fair and egalitarian for all people.
Finally, since Venus rules Taurus and Taurus
rules money, Galactic Venus children may be devoted to helping
the poor and working towards eradicating poverty as a condition
affecting this world.
(Note: Venus changes sign approximately once a
month, and therefore will align with the Galactic Center for
approximately four to six days each year, sometime between the
months of October and February.)
If your child’s chart has MARS in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
Mars-oriented children will be unwilling to
settle for mediocre conditions. They don’t want their world to
be simply “good enough” – they want it to be GREAT, and they
won’t rest until it is. These children have big dreams, big
goals, and the ideas and vision to achieve these goals. (Former
president Jimmy Carter has Mars in exact sextile to the G.C., in
the sign of Aquarius).
Galactic Mars children will be activists in every
sense of the word, taking ACTION to create social change
wherever it is needed. Mars-oriented individuals do not sit
idly by when there are problems -- they take the initiative and
charge in to blaze trails and find innovative solutions. These
children want to DO something, and they can bring tremendous
energy, enthusiasm, and drive to a cause. They possess a
gung-ho attitude, and they are not afraid to take risks and
tackle huge challenges when they feel something is important.
For example, Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels
organization, has his Mars conjuncting the G.C.
Mars-aligned individuals are also good at
motivating other people to join them in taking action towards a
cause or a project. They will happily lead the bandwagon, and
are willing to travel far and wide to work with others of like
mind. These children are the ones who will “wake people up” out
of complacency and spur them on to improve the world in whatever
ways are necessary to reach their Aquarian-inspired goals.
Civil rights are likely to be one area Mars-aligned individuals
will fight for, as the ideals of personal freedom mean a great
deal to them.
Finally, since Mars rules the military, these
kids may work towards creating changes within military
structures and how they are used in the world at large. While
the military may still have its place in the “new world,” the
old “might makes right” mindset has no relevance in an
“Aquarian” world system and must be reformed.
(Note: Mars changes sign approximately every six
to eight weeks, and therefore will align with the Galactic
Center for approximately ten days within each two-year period.)
If your child’s chart has JUPITER in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
Jupiter is the planet that rules Sagittarius, so
children who have Jupiter aligned with the Galactic Center in
Sag are especially powerful promoters of the transition into
“Aquarian” thinking. These children will be educators and
philosophers, individuals who can truly “see” what an ideal
world would look like and who usher in new ways of treating our
world according to a higher standard of ethics. They think big,
dream big, aim for the stars – and their optimism and enthusiasm
is literally contagious. They can influence others in a
positive way just by being present.
Jupiter-ruled individuals desire to learn about
and bond with other cultures -- these children wish to be true
global citizens. Expect these children to reform governmental
foreign policies in monumental ways. These kids will also
tackle our legal systems, bringing a more “Aquarian” sense of
justice into our laws and customs.
Jupiter is also the planet representing
salesmanship and publicity, so Sag Jupiter individuals will
bring greater honesty and ethics into how businesses deal with
the public. Jupiter-influenced individuals will also carry this
sense of honesty into the media, since this planet is the
overseer of publishing in all of its forms. Many sources and
types of information that have been kept hidden from the public
eye will be revealed once these children are running the media
conglomerates.
Finally, since Jupiter rules religion, expect
these children to play a role in bringing the various religions
of the world together into greater cooperation and unity.
Galactic Jupiter individuals intuitively understand that people
of ALL faiths share a common goal at their core: to understand
how the universe works.
Some well-known individuals with Jupiter in the
Galactic Center position include Al Gore, Dick Cavett (his North
Node is also conjunct the G.C.), Clarence Thomas (with Uranus
opposing at 26 degrees Gemini), former New York City mayor Ed
Koch, musician James Taylor, and comedian/activist Billy Crystal
(several planets in his chart form close aspects to the G.C.)
(Note: Jupiter changes sign approximately once a
year, and spent time in the Galactic Center position during the
following times: January to March 1960 and June to October 1960,
January 1970, July to September 1970, December 1983 to January
1984, and December 1995. Jupiter will return to the G.C.
position again in November and December of 2007.)
If your child’s chart has SATURN in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
While other astrological types are good at coming
up with visionary new ideas, Saturn-aligned children will take a
very PRACTICAL approach to improving the world. Saturn honors
the traditions of the past and recognizes that not everything
should change, and therefore these children will intuitively
know how to keep what is valuable within pre-existing traditions
and incorporate these things into the “new” society.
Saturn-aligned children are organized, patient, and responsible,
and they carry the wisdom and the perseverance to work towards
changes that may take a long time to implement and come to
fruition. They possess long-range vision and are good at
planning and dealing with trends that can take decades to
evolve.
Those with a strong Saturn influence in their
charts are comfortable being in positions of authority and great
responsibility. Expect these children to grow up to be
presidents, governors, corporate executives, and other
officials. They will revamp our governments, our corporations,
and our economy, coming up with new structures and formats that
better reflect the ideals of the Aquarian Age. In the same way
that parents grant rules and privileges that are progressively
less restrictive the more mature a child becomes, the Saturnian
rules of conduct within society will grow to reflect the higher
consciousness as humanity becomes more and more “Aquarian.”
Galactic Saturn people will figure out how to
change the rules so that individual freedom is respected more
while at the same time ensuring that society as a whole still
functions in smooth-running order. Martin Luther King, Jr. had
Saturn conjuncting the Galactic Center, and he was instrumental
in leading powerful yet nonviolent movements within society to
change rules and laws that were unfair to minority groups.
Additionally, Saturn represents the “father”
principle in astrology, and therefore Saturn-aligned individuals
may also play a role in evolving the status of father’s rights,
bringing them into a greater state of equality alongside the
rights and privileges of mothers. Finally, since Saturn
represents the wisdom that comes with age and experience, these
kids may influence the treatment of and rights of senior
citizens.
(Note: Saturn changes sign approximately every
two and a half years, and was in the Galactic Center position
from February to June 1958 and November 1958 to January 1959,
from December 1987 to February 1988, and from June to November
1988.)
THE OUTER PLANETS:
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto remain in one
astrological sign for much longer periods of time in comparison
to the other planets, and therefore alignments of these planets
to the Galactic Center influence entire generations. Uranus
remains in a sign for approximately seven years, Neptune for
approximately fourteen years, and Pluto can remain in one sign
for up to thirty-two years. See each planet below for more
specific information.
If your child’s chart has URANUS in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
Uranus is the planet that rules Aquarius;
consequently the children who have a connection to the Galactic
Center through Uranus will be the most “in tune” with the
concepts and energies associated with the Aquarian Age. They
are humanitarian, altruistic, and concerned with the greater
good of the world. Uranus-influenced individuals tend to think
of everyone as a friend, regardless of age, race, religion, and
so forth. As a result, they are able to operate comfortably
within and between varying groups of people – a very handy
Aquarian trait for collaborative endeavors, such as peacemaking.
Because Uranus plays such a prominent role in
this new era, Uranus-aligned individuals will literally “gate
in” new, original, and unconventional ways of thinking, doing,
and creating. Aquarius is the most “futuristic” of all the
signs; therefore, expect these children to come up with
innovative solutions to global problems through all areas of
technology, such as finding ways to deal with global warming (it
is interesting to note that Al Gore’s natal chart has Uranus in
a close aspect to the G.C., at 22 degrees Gemini, connected by
opposition to his Galactic Jupiter at 28 degrees of
Sagittarius). Children born with a Uranus alignment to the
Galactic Center may well invent brand-new technologies that
eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels altogether.
Additionally, because they can “foresee” the type
of future the Aquarian Age is bringing, these children will
gladly take on “revolutionary” roles, cheerfully rebelling
against systems that are corrupt, oppressive, and unjust.
(World-renowned dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, a Sun-sign Aquarius,
with Mercury also in Aquarius trining Uranus opposite the G.C.
at 22 degrees Gemini, and with Jupiter in the current Galactic
sign of Sagittarius, grew up under communist rule in the former
Soviet Union, but defected to the West in search of greater
freedom.) These children are progressive and independent
free-thinkers who are not afraid of change and who seek to
create a world based on higher ideals. These forward-minded
individuals will set new societal trends and “fads” that reflect
the Aquarian Age, both socially through “universal brotherhood”
ideals, and technologically through areas dealing with
computers, the Internet, and space travel. For example,
President John F. Kennedy had a strong Galactic Center
connection through his Uranus at 23 degrees of Aquarius: In the
early 1960s, he was determined to see human beings land on the
moon by the end of that decade, and his wishes were indeed
carried out.
Uranus also rules GROUPS of people, both formal
and informal, and therefore these children may be found leading
large numbers of people in political movements, protest
meetings, marches on Washington, and other similar activities.
One prominent politician currently in the public eye, Hillary
Clinton, has strong aspects to the G.C. through her Uranus and
Ascendant in Gemini, at 25 and 29 degrees respectively.
(Note: Uranus takes approximately seven years to
travel through each sign, and was in the Galactic Center
position during most of 1987 and 1988.)
If your child’s chart has NEPTUNE in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
Neptune-aligned Galactic children are the “cosmic
visionaries” of the zodiac. This generation is the one that
will lead the great spiritual rebirth, as the mystical qualities
of Neptune combine with the Galactic Center to usher in the
awareness of universal “oneness.” They are idealistic dreamers
-- and these dreams are important, for everything that ever got
created on this earth started out simply as a dream in someone’s
imagination. They seek to inspire others, and they operate more
through their intuitions and emotions than through “logic.”
Rather than getting caught up in a fatalistic view of life (“the
world’s problems are too big – we’ll never solve them”), this
planetary configuration gives its generation the hope,
enthusiasm, and confidence to strive for better.
Galactic Neptune individuals are deeply
compassionate, and are capable of making great sacrifices in
order to offer help and comfort to others. They may take a
particular interest in assisting people who suffer from any of
the following circumstances: poverty, homelessness, illness and
disability, and drug and alcohol addiction. This group of
children is likely to reform the systems and institutions that
serve those who are “down and out” – prisons, hospitals, nursing
homes, mental institutions, charities, and the welfare system.
While writing this section, I took a look at
Mother Teresa’s chart, and her Neptune has some interesting G.C.
connections: Her Neptune in Cancer (the sign of the Universal
Mother) is inconjunct her Ascendant (which, at 25 degrees of
Sagittarius, happens to be sitting directly at the Galactic
Center point, and is opposed by Mercury at 28 Gemini), and is
tied in with Uranus, the Aquarian planet, opposite in the sign
of Capricorn. The inconjunct is an interesting aspect – it
relates to karmic obligations, and also can create
obsessive-compulsive tendencies in the chart. Mother Teresa was
certainly single-mindedly focused on helping the less
fortunate. The karmic relationship of her Neptune (deep
compassion and spirituality) with her basic self (Ascendant) and
her state of mind (Mercury), tied in with the planet that rules
Aquarian brotherhood/sisterhood (Uranus), created a deep
yearning to help all of humanity. She said she was able to “see
God” in EVERYONE, and she therefore offered her love and
assistance unconditionally.
Neptune-aligned children are also blessed with
vast creativity, which may take the form of artistic
expression. Their ideas may arrive in unusual ways, through
sudden bursts of inspiration while meditating, while
daydreaming, even while sleeping – they may wake up in the
morning just “knowing” a solution to a complex problem. Also,
since Neptune is connected with extra-sensory perception, these
children may exhibit interesting psychic abilities.
(Note: Neptune takes approximately fourteen
years to travel through each sign, and was in the Galactic
Center position during most of 1981, all of 1982 and 1983, and
much of 1984. It is interesting to note that the “New Age”
movement started becoming widespread right around the time of
Neptune’s Galactic Center alignment, and it gained even more
momentum when Uranus reached the Galactic Center position in
1987/1988.)
If your child’s chart has PLUTO in 23 to 29
degrees of Sagittarius:
Pluto is connected to the deepest aspects of our
psychological nature, and when aligned with the Galactic Center,
this planet stimulates personal growth and self-actualization,
which are definitely themes of the Aquarian Age. Pluto deals
with the so-called “shadow side,” which we all have both as
individuals and within society as a whole. These are the
skeletons in our closets, the parts of ourselves we attempt to
suppress because they make us uncomfortable or ashamed. Pluto’s
job is to transform the shadows by bringing them up into the
light where they can be seen, addressed, and healed.
Sagittarius is a sign that seeks truth at all
costs, and therefore Pluto in Sagittarius will create a
generation of people who feel that our secrets keep us bound in
shame, fear, and dysfunctional patterns of behavior. The Pluto
in Sag generation will refuse to play games, and will insist
that people learn how to “get real.” For example, one of the
things that Pluto rules is sexuality, and with the Sagittarian
desire for honesty, once Pluto arrived in Sagittarius in 1995,
we began seeing a trend where our gay and lesbian populations
were no longer willing to hide meekly in the shadows. They are
now standing up and proclaiming, “This is who we are, and we
demand to be heard.” (One prominent figure associated with this
movement, Ellen Degeneres, has several Galactic Center
connections in her natal chart: Her Mars is at 24 degrees
Sagittarius, her Saturn is at 22 degrees Sag, her Ascendant is
also in Sagittarius, and she carries Aquarius energy through her
Sun and Venus.)
Pluto does not always do its job gently – in
fact, during a Plutonian activation, people may experience quite
a bit of upheaval and anguish in their lives. Nonetheless,
Pluto’s influence is absolutely necessary to correct deep-rooted
problems so that we can learn, grow, and move past them for
good. To illustrate, one of the things Sagittarius rules is
religion, and thus when Pluto first arrived in the “zone” of
religion in 1995, it started unearthing the deep, dark skeletons
hiding in the closets of religious organizations. What happened
as a result? For one thing, the problem of sexual abuse of
children by clergy members finally hit the fan. This created
much turmoil in the short-term – but I think people can agree
that this was necessary so that in the future, children will be
less likely to be victimized. This is how Pluto works.
Issues of power and control definitely fall under
the realm of Pluto. With the current alignment to the Galactic
Center, we must begin as nations to recognize when our egos are
causing us to throw our weight around too much. We need to deal
with the deeper underlying issues affecting international
relations, and achieve a more egalitarian balance of power for
all of humanity. One of the key issues related to this will be
reforms in the area of atomic power and atomic weaponry (Pluto
rules nuclear energy, and was in fact discovered in 1930, around
the same time that the human race was first learning to harness
and manipulate the atom.)
Several additional areas fall under Pluto’s
influence and will likely be reformed by the generation that has
Pluto aligned with the Galactic Center: For instance, our tax
system is due for a major overhaul in the coming decades. Also,
since Pluto deals with waste management and garbage disposal,
these kids will be the ones who tackle many important issues
related to environmental pollution.
(Note: Pluto is in the Galactic Center Position
throughout the years 2005, 2006, and 2007, and then will return
to this position again from June to November 2008.)
If your child’s chart has the NORTH or SOUTH
NODE in 23 to 29 degrees of Sagittarius:
I consider the Nodes to be “destiny” points, and
therefore their placement in a chart is very important and
influential. The South Node represents all of the accumulated
wisdom of past experiences, and the North Node represents a
life-long striving to achieve the particular potential
associated with its sign and house placement. Therefore,
individuals who have a connection to the Galactic Center through
their Nodes have specific and essential roles to play in
creating the new “Aquarian-Age” world. It may be that the very
reason they have chosen to incarnate on the planet at this time
is to fulfill this special destiny.
Additionally, I feel that individuals who have
Nodes in the sign of Aquarius also share in this type of
destiny.
(Note: The North Node was conjunct the Galactic
Center position from April to July 1955, from October 1973 to
March 1974, from August to October in 1992, and will return to
this position from March to July in 2011. The South Node was
conjunct the Galactic Center from December 1945 to April 1946,
from August to December 1964, from March to August 1983, and
from October 2001 to March 2002.)
Now that we have explored each planet
individually, I would like to note that there are certain time
periods when more than one planet is aligned with the Galactic
Center:
During the current Pluto alignment, Pluto will be
joined at various times by Mercury, Venus, Mars, or Jupiter.
November and December of 2007 will be an especially powerful
time, as the Sun and Mercury will join a Jupiter/Pluto
conjunction.
December 1983 to January 1984 was also a
significant time, with Jupiter conjuncting Neptune in the
Galactic Center position, and Uranus and Venus also in the sign
of Sagittarius.
December of 1987 contained a strong configuration
as well, with Uranus and Saturn aligned with the G.C., joined by
the Sun and Mercury during the week of December 16 – 22.
There is one other date in particular that I
would like to mention -- while doing my research, I came across
a specific day that is full of Galactic Center connections: On
February 13, 1988, the Moon, Mars, Saturn and Uranus were all in
the latter degrees of Sagittarius, sextiling the Sun and Mercury
in the latter degrees of Aquarius, trining Jupiter at 25 degrees
Aries (Venus was in Aries, too), and squaring the Nodes at 23
degrees Pisces/Virgo. Talk about a “Galactic Child!” An
individual born on this date would be incredibly tuned in to the
Aquarian-Age consciousness, especially if her Ascendant was
involved with the Galactic Center’s position as well.
Getting back to the individual planets, there is
an additional way that a planet can come into alignment with the
Galactic Center, and that is through the planet’s PROGRESSED
movement through an individual’s natal chart. If one of your
child’s natal planets move into the G.C. position through
progression, that planet gets “activated” in a sense. We can
consider progressed alignments to be a “dormant” form of the
Galactic energy, sitting latent in the natal chart until it gets
“switched on” at the proper time.
Of course, the HOUSES that contain any of the
planets lining up with the Galactic Center will also be a big
factor in how your child’s “Aquarian Age” abilities manifest,
but there is not room in this article to go into all the
possible permutations of the planets and houses.
It is also important to note that planets in a
natal chart that are between 23 and 29 degrees of ANY sign will
be affected as well, because they will be forming aspects to the
Galactic Center. Again, there is not room in this article to
cover all of the possibilities, but here is some extremely basic
information that may help: If a planet is in a HARMONIOUS
aspect to the Galactic Center (such as a sextile or a trine), it
will be easier for your child to integrate the energies of that
planet than it will be if the planet is in a DIFFICULT aspect
(such as a square or opposition). For instance, referring back
to Jane Fonda’s chart (see the Sun/Ascendant section): Although
her Sun is conjunct the G.C., it is exactly squared by her
Saturn, which correlates to the fact that she has endured many
problems and personal setbacks as a result of her political
crusading.
When it comes to planets in other signs, since we
are dealing with the “Age of Aquarius,” any planets in the sign
of Aquarius in particular within your child’s chart will reflect
and enhance his role in the evolution of humanity’s
consciousness. For example, Steve Irwin, who devoted his entire
life to raising global awareness about wildlife conservation,
had a stellium in Aquarius: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
This man was such a worldwide inspiration that when he passed
on, people all over the globe were moved to step in and take up
his cause. (*See the footnote below for a list of dates for
planets in Aquarius.)
One final note: For Adults: Although you may
have been born before the energies of the Age of Aquarius
“officially” became prominent, i.e., before the “Indigo
generation,” you may still be a “child of the Age of Aquarius.”
If you feel that you are a Lightworker, meaning you feel you
have a “mission” to help the world in some way, check your own
chart. Chances are, you may have one or more planets influenced
by the Galactic Center.
*Footnote: Planets in Aquarius
The Sun is in this sign annually from January 21
to February 19.
The Moon is in this sign for approximately 2 ½
days each month.
Mercury is in Aquarius for approximately three
weeks each year.
Venus is also in Aquarius for three to four weeks
each year.
Mars visits this sign for approximately five to
seven weeks within each two-year period.
Jupiter was/will be in Aquarius during the
following dates:
February 1985 to February 1986
January 1997 to February 1998
January 2009 to January 2010
Saturn was in this sign from February 1991 to
January 1994.
Uranus visited Aquarius during the following
dates:
April to June 1995
January 1996 to March 2003
September to December 2003
Neptune entered Aquarius in early 1998, and will
remain in this sign until the year 2012.
Pluto has not been in Aquarius since the late
1700s, and will not be again until 2024.
The Nodes:
The North Node was in Aquarius from May 1989 to
November 1990
The North Node will return to Aquarius from
December 2007 to August 2009.
