Progress…?

There was a time, not long ago…
People would rely on God for all they’d know.

What time they’d rise, yes, when they’d wake…

Was a choice left up to God to make.

He’d guide them by his sun up high…

Of when was morn and when was nigh.

They would see and then obey…

The limit of time He’d put on each day.

There was a time not long since past…

They lived on God’s bounty, meager or vast.

Bounty or famine was left in God’s hands…

By what he made grow or live on the land.

So, they were dependant on what He’d provide.

They loved him so… In his word they’d abide.

In times of plenty, they’d shout his praises and sing…

And when there was famine… even closer they’d cling.

There have been times in every land,

When water was in great demand…

All were dependant on what He’d let fall,

An abundance of rain, or none, at all…

Crops, animals and people would perish without,

His gift of water, bounty or drought.

The essence of Life, was plain to see…

A gift from God and a necessity!

There was a time man walked the earth,

He rejoiced in it and knew its worth.

It was his protector, his shelter, his home…

The choice was God’s, weather he stay or roam.

He treasured the land, he held it so dear…

This gift from God, man did revere.

He took pride in it, rock and soil…

There he would plant, harvest and toil.

There is a time, we live in now…

Where man is too busy, his head to bow.

He puts himself at the control…

Too busy with Life to worry about Soul.

The burdens are his alone to bare…

If he should fall… Who would care?

So, this is the evolution…

That the world calls Progress?
