Aromatherapy: Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil)

We all tend to have a "medicine bag", whether it is the bathroom medicine cabinet, kitchen cupboard, a specific place in our purse or a traditional medicine bag that holds elements that effectively provides relief and cure for our pain, ills and discomforts.

Melaleuca alternifolia, or it's frequently used name of Tea Tree Oil, is an absolute necessity for any "medicine bag." This highly regarded essential oil has such a broad spectrum of efficacy.

Hundreds of years ago, the Aborigines in Australia were observed by explorers using the leaves of the Melaleuca trees to make poultices, teas from the dried leaves and hand expressing oils from the leaves to heal a wide range of illnesses and injuries. Impressed by what they saw and experienced, these explorers introduced many populations to the extraordinary benefits of the Melaleuca alternifolia trees.

Research has indicated that the essential oil of Melaleuca is so effective because it has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties and is also an immuno-stimulant, decongestant and analgesic.

Traditional uses: Burns, fungal infections, candida, gum disease, abscesses, toothaches, athlete's foot, respiratory infections, rash, sore throat, insect bites, sunburn, bronchitis, inflammation, warts, wounds and is anti-bacterial for large spectrum action of gram positive: staff and gram negative: e.coli and radiation damage (cancer treatments).

Application: Apply topically to affected area, diffuse - is safe for children and pets.
